Emirates ruler grants $3.25 million to JNCASR

Sheikh Saud, the ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, an emirate of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has granted $3.25 million (Rs16 crore) to the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) here for procuring equipment and funding research projects.

The amount will be paid over a period of six years.

A wing of the new building set up for materials and chemistry research will be named after the ruler – ‘Sheikh Saqr Laboratory’, which will be part of the international centre for material science. Prime Minister’s Scientific Advisory Council chairman C N R Rao will head the Lab.
