According to Palike sources, Nataraj had reportedly given away medical funds worth Rs three crore to the patients between April 20 and April 27.

The matter came to light only on Monday when the Commissioner held a meeting with the Finance department officials to assess the financial position before tabling the budget.

Officer pulled up

The Commissioner pulled up Chief Accounts Officer Ashoka for the largesse. Sources said that the Commissioner has sought an explanation from Ashoka.
Nataraj was not available for comment. His aides said he was in Shimoga to attend a marriage.

Discretionary quota

The grant of Rs 13.95 crore, out of the Rs 25 crore of his discretionary quota, by Nataraj’s former deputy Dayanand to Benniganahalli ward which he represents in the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike  Council, has also come under scrutiny.
According to Palike sources, he also spent Rs six crore on the constituency of his mentor, MLA Raghu, and Rs 3.5 crore on two wards represented by BJP corporators, the sources said.
