A 17-year-old PU student committed suicide at her residence in Akshayanagar in Ramamurthy Nagar on Tuesday evening.

The deceased Leena S was studying in CMR College. Police found a death note stating the girl was not blaming anyone for her death.

However, her foster father filed a complaint with Ramamurthynagar police accusing her schoolmate Manju for forcing her into suicide.

He said Manju had been behind Leena for the past two years and had recently attended her birthday party at home. Though Manju joined a different college after SSLC, he continued to meet Leena. Manju allegedly proposed to Leena but she refused.

The foster father said he called Manju home and asked him to stay away from the girl, but the youth continued to follow her to college. On May 7, Manju publically assaulted Leena, who came home and committed suicide by hanging herself.

Ramamurthynagar police said the father’s complaint will be probed, though the girl did not blame anyone on her suicide note.
