An elderly man was killed on the spot when a BBMP garbage truck ran over him near Vellara Junction on Richmond Road on Thursday morning. The victim was identified as Kuppuswamy, 70, a resident of Austin Town and a retired BEL employee.
According to the police, the accident occurred around 6.30 am when Kuppuswamy was on a morning walk. The speeding truck driver failed to control the vehicle and mowed down Kuppuswamy.
The police arrested the truck driver Saravana M for causing the death due to reckless driving.
