<p>In a country with a gigantic population, which is ever-increasing at an extremely high pace, the only way to transform this liability into an asset is by providing skills and making it a future workforce. <br /><br /></p>.<p>Skilling India is the theme of the 32nd edition of India International Trade Fair 2012, which was inaugurated by President Pranab Mukherjee at Hamsadhwani, Pragati Maidan on Wednesday.<br /><br />An iconic annual feature, the trade fair is visited by lakhs from across the country who come to see the exhibited products. Such is the craze that many wait round the year to visit the popular fair to shop for essentials. With pavilions representing states and each displaying their unique crafts, selling products and serving the foods of their region, this place turns out to be a sample of cultural diversity of India.<br /><br />The theme display at Hall No. 1- foyer, will highlight different aspects for continuous upgrading of skills and globally recognised qualifications for youth to achieve employment and ensure India’s competitiveness in the international market. <br /><br />It is to synergise the efforts of various sectors that India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) has focused on initiatives in skilling development undertaken by ministries, departments and private participants to disseminate information to the unemployed and unskilled workforce about employment opportunities. It will also aim at showcasing initiatives of training providers, professional societies, self-help groups, co-operatives and NGOs. A number of seminars/ workshops mainly relating to the theme 'Skilling India' are also being organised by FICCI.<br /><br />On the international front, Republic of Belarus is the Partner Country and South Africa is the Focus this year while at the national level, Uttarakhand is participating as Partner State and Andaman and Nicobar Islands is the Focus State. <br /><br />The state has over 6,000 national and international exhibitors. But what will add colour to all this are the cultural events including the State Days celebrations at Hamsadhwani and Lal Chowk theatres with music and dance recitals of classical and semi classical genre at Shakuntalam and geet, ghazal, qawaalis at Falaknuma, street plays at Etihaasik Chowk and puppet shows at the Food Court.<br /><br />IITF 2012 has gone hi-tech with a mobile app dedicated to it. The new app, introduced by ITPO will guide visitors, inform them about sale of tickets and programmes and status of the crowds on any given day. This should definitely help in controlling crowds who might just become self-regulatory.<br /><br />So, even before you ready to visit the fair, update yourself about it to have maximum fun.</p>
