<p>Following public demand to retain the BBMP’s special commissioner (solid waste management) Randeep D, the government has finally decided to continue the officer in the civic body.</p>.<p>The government had transferred Randeep, known for various initiatives to crack the garbage issue in the city, on 30 November.</p>.<p>Residents, social activist and various citizens groups started an online campaign demanding the government to retain the officer in the current position.</p>.<p>Bengalureans started an online petition with a #WeNeedRandeep hashtag at change.org, where more than 900 people signed the petition after Randeep was transferred to the social welfare department as a commissioner.</p>.<p>N Manjunath Prasad, BBMP Commissioner, said: “I have personally requested Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara to retain Randeep. He was doing good work in the BBMP. Earlier he was posted as additional commissioner administration. Later I entrusted him with the solid waste management<br />also.”</p>.<p>Speaking to <span class="italic">DH</span>, Randeep said: “As a government servant transfer is common, and we are willing to serve wherever government posts us. Wherever we are we have to ensure that government policy reaches the people.”</p>
