<p>The Bengaluru police are planning to restructure jurisdiction of all the law and order as well as traffic police stations in view of the rapid expansion of the City and increase in population.<br /><br /></p>.<p>“Depending on the density of population, geographical area and feasibility, we are planning to add or delete areas from the jurisdiction of police stations. There is too much work and pressure on some stations as there are numerous complaints registered.<br /><br />“But in some stations, fewer cases are registered. Senior police officers will plan and allocate areas to police stations and this will help the personnel focus on their work,” C H Pratap Reddy, Additional Commissioner of Police (West), said on Tuesday.<br /><br />There are around 150 police stations, including law and order and traffic in the City, which has a population of almost one crore.<br /><br />City infra changing<br /><br />“The infrastructure of the City has changed drastically. There are outer ring roads, flyovers, underpasses, one-ways, etc. This has made commuting for the public difficult. Earlier, people used to find their jurisdictional police station near their house or workplace. But now, due to the development Bengaluru has witnessed, they have to travel quite a bit to reach the station.<br /><br />“Keeping all this in mind, we will discuss with senior police officers and decide on the areas to be added or removed. This will be done to make police stations more accessible to the public,” Reddy said.<br /><br />Crime stations<br /><br />Another senior police officer said that there are plans of establishing crime police stations in every division across Bengaluru. “It is found that the policemen investigating a particular case are sent on bandobust or other duties.<br /><br />“This hampers the investigation process. So, if police stations to investigate only criminal cases are established, it will be easier to solve the cases at the earliest.<br />There is another plan in the pipeline that calls for deploying of policemen in a particular station should be assigned only criminal cases. This will take away the pressure from the law and order police, who can focus on other cases,” said the officer.</p>
