<p>Bengaluru: In an effort to bridge the gap between what laws envision and the ground realities of the survivors of domestic violence, Aweksha, a Bengaluru-based women’s trust launched “A Legal Handbook on Domestic Violence” on Saturday. </p><p>The handbook was launched by Justice Siddappa Sunil Dutt Yadav, Additional Judge of the High Court of Karnataka. </p><p>Speaking at the launch, he said that crimes like domestic violence should be minutely interrogated, as many women do not have the accessibility to law. </p> .Trump says violence against Tesla is domestic terrorism.<p>“The handbook entails legal options available to women who face violence within the home from their family members or inner circle, such as marriage or live-in-relationships. However, there is a gap between implementation of orders and ground reality, which needs to be bridged,” he said, adding that the legal handbook for women will bring awareness among them as what to do when they find themselves in situations of domestic violence. </p><p>Shedding light on the much needed sensitisation of officials in addressing cases of domestic violence, the justice said that social and psychological impact of domestic violence should be part of the training for judges, police officers and protection officers. “It is necessary that such training and sensitisation is ongoing and repression cases should be conducted from time to time,” he noted. </p><p>Rahul Raman, Assistant Professor of Law at the National Law School of India University, highlighted the importance of having these handbooks in regional languages as women in rural India often end up suffering due to lack of awareness. </p> .<p><strong>What does the handbook entail? </strong></p><p>The Legal Handbook on Domestic Violence explains the process of filing complaints, relevant legal provisions and procedures involved in it. It also provides a step-by-step guidance on the necessary documentation for filing cases under both civil and criminal matrimonial laws. </p><p>Beyond legal recourse, the handbook offers safety tips and precautions regarding essential documents, information and certificates that may be required when initiating legal proceedings. To this end, it includes a comprehensive checklist of documents needed at various stages of the legal process.</p>
