<p>A plaque put up to honour 26/11 martyr Sandeep Unnikrishnan was found damaged, triggering massive outrage on social media on Monday.</p>.<p class="bodytext">A few Twitter users initially alleged that some miscreants had vandalised the structure in Yelahanka New Town. But a police investigation revealed that the structure was damaged by a truck.</p>.<p class="bodytext">After the pictures of the damaged memorial were put up on social media, Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara directed BBMP Commissioner N Manjunatha Prasad to restore the structure.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Parameshwara, who also holds the city development portfolio, tweeted: “Am shocked to learn about the damage that has been caused to Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan's memorial in Yelahanka. I have asked @BBMPCOMM to ensure that this is set right immediately.”</p>.<p class="bodytext">The Yelahanka traffic police booked a case and seized the truck responsible for the damage. “After receiving the complaint, we found that a truck (KA-04-B-4138) had hit the structure unintentionally on Monday morning following a brake failure,” said a traffic police officer attached to the Yelahanka station.</p>.<p class="bodytext">"The owner of the truck has agreed to restore the structure. The work is already in progress,” he said.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Unnikrishnan died fighting terrorists in the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai.</p>
