<p>Bengaluru: A 33-year-old man was arrested for attempting to run over police personnel conducting night checks, the police said on Sunday.</p>.<p>The suspect, identified as Mahadevaswamy M alias Ramachari, is a waste paper shop owner and a resident of KP Agrahara.</p>.<p>The police said the incident occurred on the intervening night of March 3 and 4 on West of Chord Road in Rajajinagar.</p>.<p>Police constable Karthik UK and head constable Dhareppa Tonne were conducting routine night inspections in the area, led by police sub-inspector Manjunatha NV.</p>.<p>Manjunatha, who lodged the complaint, stated that barricades had been installed and inspections were being carried out on suspicious vehicles.</p>.<p>Past midnight, Mahadevaswamy, who was unidentified at the time, drove his Tata Altroz rashly and attempted to run over the two constables who tried to stop him at the checkpoint.</p>.<p>The incident was caught on a nearby CCTV camera. The car came to a stop 200 metres ahead, prompting the two constables to pursue him on their department-issued two-wheeler.</p>.<p>When they asked him to step out of the vehicle, he allegedly made a sharp turn in an attempt to run them over, the police said. The car hit the two-wheeler, causing the officers to fall and sustain injuries, while the suspect fled the scene.</p>.<p>The Magadi Road police registered a case and later traced the suspect. He was booked under sections related to attempt to murder, voluntarily causing hurt, and assault or use of criminal force against a public servant. The police also impounded the Tata Altroz.</p>
