<p>Bengaluru: Bengaluru police have arrested a 27-year-old man who allegedly created an Instagram account and posted videos of women travelling on the metro, recorded without their consent.</p>.<p>The suspect has been identified as Diganth, a resident of Thilgalarapalya in North Bengaluru, where he lives with his family. He is originally from Holenarasipura in Hassan district. He is a commerce graduate and works in the accounts department of a private company in Murugeshpalya.</p>.<p>Lokesh B Jagalasar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, South Division, told <span class="italic">DH</span> that he was arrested from his home on Friday afternoon.</p>.<p>The suspect allegedly created an Instagram account by the name metro_chicks and had posted 13 voyeuristic videos of women until May 20. The page had over 5,900 followers. The incident came to light after several social media users shared the profile and called for immediate action against the user.</p>.<p>According to an officer who oversaw the investigation, the suspect travelled by metro every day from Peenya to Indiranagar for work and took voyeuristic videos of women during his commute. “He posted those videos on Instagram and also on a Telegram channel. We are scrutinising his digital devices for more details,” the officer said.</p>.Bengaluru police launch app for internal communications .<p>During interrogation, Diganth claimed that he had been posting videos since March this year, but this is yet to be established by the police. For now, the police have only found videos he posted on social media, but they are scanning his devices for more information.</p>.<p>When asked why he had been posting such content, the suspect had no answer. Police say it stems from his voyeuristic mindset. Investigations are ongoing. All videos posted on both platforms have been taken down by the service providers.</p>.<p>An officer from Banashankari police station said that DCP Jagalasar had directed them to take up a suo motu case on the afternoon of May 20, as no FIR had been filed until then and no one had come forward to lodge a complaint.</p>.<p>Soon after, an FIR was filed by Banashankari police under BNS Section 78 (stalking) and Section 67 (publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form) of the IT Act.</p>.<p>Investigators also contacted the social media platforms seeking information about the account. The investigations were purely technical, according to the police.</p>
