Inchara Rao, Playback singer

Bengaluru-based playback singer and performer Inchara Rao was spotted after she participated in reality television game show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa in Kannada. She made her debut as a singer in the Kannada film industry with ‘Nanna stylu berene’ from ‘Geleya’.

Her other popular songs include ‘Kareyole’ from the film ‘RangiTaranga’ and ‘Ayomaya’ from ‘Godhi Banna Sadharna Mykattu’.

She is currently working on a project called ‘Kathe Ondu Shuru Agide’ and her forthcoming independent albums include spiritual poetry in Kannada.

“Mookajjiya Kanasugalu’ by K Shivaram Karanth is a favourite read. I have read this book twice and I can still read it again. Another novel that I particularly enjoyed reading was ‘Kirugurina Gayyaligalu’ by Poornachandra Tejaswi. There’s so much rich literature in Kannada and I would like to discover more and more of it. Many novels I’ve read highlight problems relevant to our times.”

Shivamogga

“My favourite destination is my hometown Shivamogga in the Malnad region. This is, in fact, my holiday destination. Work takes up most of my time but whenever I can get some free time, I head home. I would also like to travel across the globe and explore as many places as I can. Interestingly, my travel companions to destinations that are closer home, are my four dogs.”

‘Bele Holige’

“I can’t imagine my day without ghee, paneer and dairy products. But if there is one dish that I have to pick then it is ‘Bele Holige’. I like it the way it is made back home in Malnad. I also like another Malnad dish called ‘Tambuli’. Apart from trying all kinds of dishes, I am a good cook and make some choicest dishes in South Indian, north Indian and Continental variety. I also try some recipe that I find interesting.”
