<p> A private tutor was on Wednesday arrested by the HSR Layout police on the charge of raping a 10-year-old schoolgirl last week. Police identified him as Biju, 30, a resident of HSR Layout. <br /><br /></p>.<p>Biju, who lives next door to the girl, had called her to his home on September 3. The victim’s mother didn’t suspect anything as Biju had been tutoring the girl for the last two years. Besides, the girl was to sit an examination at the school and her mother thought Biju intended to take extra class, the police said. The suspect also tutored many other students. <br /><br />When the girl reached Biju’s home and there was nobody around, he attempted to sexually assault her by touching her private parts. The girl didn’t disclose the matter to anyone but refused to go to Biju’s home for tuition a few days later. Her parents saw something amiss. They asked her what the matter was.<br /><br /> She hesitated before disclosing everything. The shocked parents deliberated for sometime before approaching the police. <br /><br />DCP (Southeast) Dr Rohini Katoch Sepat said that Biju had been arrested for rape under Section 376 of the IPC, and various clauses of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012. <br /><br />The girl was subjected to a medical examination and police recorded her statement. She is said to be stable now. <br /><br />2 women lose gold chains<br /><br />Two women have been robbed of their gold chains in separate incidents in the City since Tuesday. <br /><br />Sumtirabai, 70, a resident of Jeevanahalli under Pulikeshinagar police station limits, was returning home from her morning walk when two strangers, riding a motorbike, waylaid her from behind. One of them got off the bike and tried to snatch her 80-gm gold chain. But the gritty woman held on to the chain.<br /><br /> The miscreant managed to make off with 70-gm of the chain while the rest remained with her. She screamed for help but the street was deserted. The miscreants sped away in no time, said police. <br /><br />In another incident, Usha, a resident of Sir MV Nagar under Ramamurthy Nagar police station limits, lost her gold chain while returning home after dropping her grandson at a nearby school around 9 am. The miscreants had arrived on a motorcycle, snatched the chain and ran away quickly, the police added. <br /><br />Separate cases have been registered at the Pulikeshinagar and Ramamurthy Nagar police stations. </p>
