<p>“Radio is a contemporary love story,” Sonal tells Metrolife. She plays the role of Pooja, who separates from husband Vivan (Himesh). “Vivan and Pooja are college sweethearts, who cannot stay with each other for even a year after marriage,” she explains. <br /><br />Sonal admits that she instantly fell in love with the script of Radio when director Ishaan Trivedi narrated it to her. “It was something fresh and different,” she says. She is all praises for co-star Himesh. “He is so positive and has so much of energy.”<br /><br />Can Radio be called as her debut film, considering that she has acted in a film called U Bomsi N Me before? “U Bomsi N Me was in English so it cannot be considered as a typical Bollywood film,” she quips. <br /><br />She will soon be seen in Nagesh Kukunoor’s Aashayein opposite John Abraham. “I play a simple Hyderabadi girl called Nafisa, and John plays my live-in boyfriend. Nafisa works in 9 to 5 job while her boyfriend gambles away all her money.” <br /><br />Hasn’t Aashayein’s release been delayed for a long time now? “Yes, there was some problem between the producers and distributors. But fortunately, all has been sorted out now and the movie will release in 2010.” <br /><br />Sonal is also working in Nikhil Advani’s Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai. “It’s a mad, fun romantic comedy, where I play the role of a girl who is just out of college and is assisting a director on sets.” <br /><br />How does she describe her transition from television to films? “I never plan anything. I did television for about three years and got sick of it as it was really tiring. So I quit it suddenly.” She adds, “When I was on this self-imposed break, I went to audition for ‘Aashayein’ and got the part. So everything was unplanned.” <br /><br />In her free-time, she loves to read. “Currently, I am reading Wild Swans by Chinese author Jung Chang.” She also loves watching American television series with her favourites being Entourage and Gossip Girls. “I love cooking and kick-boxing as well. So getting me out of my house to the sets is quite a task,” she laughs. <br /><br />Ask her about her dream role and she admits that she would love to work with new-age directors like Anurag Kashyap, Vishal Bhardwaj, Anurag Basu, Imitiaz Ali and Farhan Akhtar. <br /><br /></p>
