A 23-year-old trainee scientist jumped to death from the 12th floor of his office, at the ITPL Park building in Whitefield, on Monday evening.

The victim, Bhavesh Jaiswal, worked for Mu Sigma, Ascendas SEZ ITPB Area, at the Aviator building.

He worked on the 12th floor, with his office premise extending from the 7th to 14th floor, the police said.

According to the police, the security guards below heard a thud at around 5 pm. When they rushed to the spot, they found Jaiswal in a pool of blood and informed the police.

The police shifted him to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

The police said that they have not found any suicide note.

“Jaiswal’s phone has been sent to the forensic science laboratory to retrieve last calls he made, messages, emails or anything he had communicated with anyone,” said Abdul Ahad, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Whitefield Division.

Jaiswal, a native of Madhya Pradesh, had come to the city in 2017.

“His mother has been informed about the incident and she is on her way to the city,” added Ahad.

“We are questioning his office staff and colleagues to find if there is any workplace harassment angle,” said a senior police officer.

Meanwhile, a statement from Mu Sigma read: “We are deeply saddened and shocked by the passing away of one of our employees today. He was a Trainee Decision Scientist, who had joined Mu Sigma in the latter part of 2017. We have informed his family, they are understandably in a state of shock. Our thoughts are with them in this terrible time. We do not have any further information at this point and will be working with the authorities to assist them.
