<p>A 13-year-old girl was allegedly poisoned to death by her father and stepmother over property a dispute at their Akkupet house in Devanahalli recently.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The victim Vidhyashree’s father Narayanswamy and his third wife Lakshmi have been arrested.<br /><br />According to the police, Vidyashree was rushed to a nearby hospital by her brothers who, on returning home, saw her lying unconscious on Friday and later shifted her to Bhagwan Mahaveer Jain Hospital, where she died on Tuesday.<br /><br />Based on a complaint and a medical report that Vidyashree was forced to consume poison, which led to her death, the couple were arrested.<br /><br />Narayanswamy, a farmer, married thrice. His first wife passed away years ago, with whom he had a son Purushottam and Vidyashree, while his second wife parted ways recently.<br /><br />Narayanswamy owned three acres of ancestral property near Devanahalli. Lakshmi was opposed to dividing the property equally among all the children of Narayanswamy’s three wives.<br /><br /> Following a tiff with Purushottam and Vidyashree, she had asked Narayanswamy to throw them out of the house. Vidyashree was alone at home when the couple thrashed her and forced her to consume poison.<br /><br />Woman ends life <br /><br />Savitha, 26, a resident of Sadashivanagar in Byadarahalli, set herself ablaze allegedly over dowry harassment, in Thunganagar on Monday night. She was married to N S Raju, a private firm employee.<br /><br />The police arrested Raju, his brother Manjunath and their father Somanna for abetting her suicide.<br /><br />Savitha was the daughter of Gangaiah, a resident of Tataguni on Kanakapura Road. She married Raju on April 21, 2013, but parted ways and moved to her relative Shobha’s house at Thunganagar two months ago.<br /><br />Shobha and her family members were away to attend a car festival at Kudur village. Savitha, who was alone, doused herself with kerosene and set herself afire, police said.<br /><br />The incident came to light when Shobha and her family members returned home around 9.30 pm.<br /><br />In her death note, Savitha alleged that her husband and in-laws were responsible for her death.<br /><br />In a complaint, Gangaiah alleged they had given enough dowry during the wedding. However, Raju and his family members kept harassing for more dowry.<br /><br /></p>
