<p>Performers from Spain transported spectators into a trance with their flawless moves at Ranga Shankara, where they performed as part of the ‘Attakkalari India Biennial 2017’. The spectacular performance titled ‘Time Takes The Time Time Takes’ saw a skilled quintet performing to live music on stage.<br /><br /></p>.<p>It was a poetic and choreographic manifestation, a physical, visual and sound exercise, that explored space as a score within sound and movement. <br /><br />Beautifully choreographed by Guy Nader and Maria Campos from Spain, it unfolded a typical concept in a magnificent fashion. Based in Barcelona, the Lebanese and Spanish artistes — Guy and Maria — have collaborated together since 2006, experimenting with new ways of approaching the relation between two or more bodies, developing strategies and tasks in order to provide the body a distinct image and perception.<br /><br />The piece contemplated time as a fundamental concept through the repetition and accumulation of oscillations, creating complex mechanisms and constellations in space time. It suggested the idea of time as a continuum.<br /><br />Right from the beginning, the viewers watched with amazement the superb coordination between the performers. Clad in silver and white costumes, they did swift and nimble stretches and jumps, headstands and handstands, with perfect agility. The brilliant work spoke volumes about the hard work put in, both in terms of maintaining physical and mental balance.<br /><br />What made the performance truly wonderful was that the rhythmic moves were totally in sync with the pulsating beats and music.<br /><br />Needless to say, ‘time’ surely seemed to stand still during the one-hour performance.<br /><br />Parvathi, a spectator, said, “‘Time Takes The Time Time Takes’ was a fascinating performance of skill, where the choreography seamlessly manifested the inner working of a clock. I am glad that I was able to catch it with my friends. It was absolutely worth it!”<br /><br />Another enthusiastic visitor, Faruk Mulani, was also full of praises for the performance. “What struck me was how beautifully they presented a cryptic idea and concept. Everyone was watching with rapt attention. We were absolutely floored. I am now looking forward to the other upcoming performances of the Biennial. I am sure they will be just as pleasing as this one.”<br /><br />The Fabien Proville Dance Company from Germany will perform today at 7.30 pm at Ranga Shankara. <br /><br />Tickets are available at the venue and on www.bookmyshow.com. There will also be performances from Finland, Canada and Switzerland at the same time on February 10, 11 and 12 respectively. The one from Canada will be at Chowdiah Memorial Hall.<br /></p>
