Zero garbage dining facility at organics & millets fair

A zero garbage dining facility has been set up at the Organics and Millets 2019 international trade fair being held at the Palace Grounds in Bengaluru.

The three day fair that began on Friday is expected to witness see 50,000 visitors and 10,000 delegates.

Tejaswini Anant Kumar, the wife of late BJP leader Anant Kumar, of Adamya Chetana, which has set up the facility, said that millets were used in their kitchens.

Tejaswini said, “The use of plastic, areca nut plates, paper plates, paper spoons and tumblers have been completely avoided. Adamya Chetana from its Plate Bank has provided 20,000 steel plates, 20,000 tumblers, 50,000 steel spoons and other steel items thus completely eliminating garbage during the millet fair.”

“Arrangements have also been made for the collection of food wastage and put the same into compost pit,” she added.

The organisation’s Zero Garbage Kitchen’ has been recognised as one of the best practices to address ‘Climate Change’ threats in the recent report of Public Consultation on Climate Change, a Karnataka State Pollution Control Board initiative.
