BJP to move no-trust motion against Karnataka govt in Belagavi session

Udupi: Former BJP minister V Sunil Kumar on Thursday said that the BJP will move a no-confidence motion against the Congress government during the upcoming Belagavi legislature session, asserting that the ruling party has “lost the trust of the people as well as its own leaders.”

He told reporters here that the matter will also be discussed within the NDA partners.

Sunil Kumar launched a strong attack on the government, alleging administrative paralysis and deep internal rifts within the Congress.

He said that Karnataka has seen “no real governance for the past two months,” accusing the government of functioning in a “Dushyasana style” without accountability. Nearly 90% of ministers, he claimed, were absent from Vidhana Soudha.

He criticised Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar for “confining their visits to Mysuru and New
Delhi.”

He alleged a complete breakdown of trust within the ruling establishment.

“Even among themselves—between the CM, DyCM, ministers and MLAs—there is no mutual trust. We will seek a trust vote inside the House,” he said.

Accusing the Congress of indulging in caste politics and relying on religious leaders to protect its hold on power, Sunil Kumar said the top Congress leadership itself had created the atmosphere of confusion in the state.

He also claimed that national president Mallikarjun Kharge had been sidelined, remarking that “even the national president does not consider himself the high command.”

He clarified that the BJP had no intention of attempting to form a government.

“We are waiting for Congress to collapse under its own weight,” he said, questioning the whereabouts of the “140 MLAs supposedly supporting the Deputy Chief Minister,” and pointing to the lack of support from Rahul Gandhi as well as the constant trips of state leaders to New Delhi.
