Buoyed by sweeping victory in three of the five states that went to polls in November, BJP state leaders, led by the party veteran B S Yediyurappa, on Sunday said the thumping victory in three states demonstrates that people have unbridled confidence in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and complete rejection of ‘fake guarantees’ by the Congress across the country.

Yediyurappa told reporters that it was now repeatedly getting clear that there is no opposition to BJP in the country. “These (assembly election) results have proved that the people of this country have decisively rejected Congress party’s guarantees,” he said.

Announcing that he would start touring the state to organise the party at the grassroots level, the Lingayat strongman asserted that the party state president (his son BY Vijayendra) is getting a rousing welcome which in itself is an indication that he has been accepted at the grassroots level in the state. “We will make an all out effort to win all 28 Lok Sabha seats in the state in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections,” he said.

Former chief minister Basavaraj Bommai said that the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had been repeatedly talking about the guarantees. “The results of the Assembly elections is a clear message that these guarantees will not make much of an impact in forthcoming Lok Sabha polls,” he said.

He further added that Congress-led INDIA bloc will be disintegrated after these results. “INDIA bloc will bite the dust in the Lok Sabha elections,” he said.

Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition R Ashoka warned that the Congress must watch its step that has been talking about weaning away MLAs from the opposition. “It will be reversed, after these results, MLAs and leaders from Congress will start queing up to join the BJP across the country. The Congress must abandon its plan to wean away opposition MLAs and leaders,” he said.

JD(S) state president H D Kumaraswamy said that the election results are a clear indication that the people have complete faith in PM Modi’s leadership to steer the country forward for the third term in a row.

Former prime minister and JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda greeted his ally BJP for their victory in the Assembly elections in three states.

He took to the micro-blogging site X to congratulate the BJP.

“My party congratulates the top leadership of @BJP4India, especially Prime Minister @narendramodi, for their splendid performance in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh.”
