Body of elephant that died of natural causes found in Nagarahole

H D Kote: The carcass of a 46-year-old male elephant was found on Thursday at the Metikuppe Wildlife Range of the Nagarahole Tiger Reserve in H D Kote taluk, Mysuru district. Forest Department officials confirmed that the elephant had died of natural causes.

Foresters who were patrolling the Metikuppe range found the body of the elephant, and immediately alerted their superiors.

Forest Department veterinarian Dr H Ramesh, and Chief Veterinary Office Dr B B Prasanna performed the post-mortem on the elephant.

Nagarahole Tiger Reserve Director P A Seema, Assistant Conservator of Forests S D Madhu, and Metikuppe Range Forest Officer M R Rashmi visited the spot where the carcass was found, and inspected the site.
