Boluru Dogra Poojary award for the year 2018 will be conferred on Octogenarian Yakshagana artiste Kurnadu Shivanna Acharya, a press release stated.
The award, instituted by Boluru Dogra Poojary memorial Yakshagana Centre, Maroli, will be presented to Acharya for his exceptional contribution to the field since 38 years.
Acharya has mastered the female roles in Yakshagana. Characters, such as ‘Damayanthi’, ‘Gunasundari’, ‘Rama’, ‘Krishna’ and ‘Deyi Baidethi’, are popularised by him. The award function will be held at Town Hall on July 17.
