<p class="bodytext">A lineman on duty was assaulted allegedly by an educational institution president at Ponnampet on Saturday.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The victim is Mahadevaswamy, who is a lineman at the Ponnampet unit of Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Company (CESC).</p>.<p class="bodytext">The accused is Kolera Zaru Ganapathi, president of the Ponnampet Sai Shankar Educational Institution.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Mahadevaswamy had asked the president to clear the pending electricity bill and had also warned the latter that the electricity connection would be disconnected failing the clearance.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Ganapathi, in turn, abused the lineman and allegedly assaulted him too, according to a complaint filed with the Ponnampet police.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The video clip of the assault has gone viral on social media.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Condemning the incident, the CESC Employees’ Association has demanded suitable legal action against the accused.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Ankayya, the assistant executive engineer for CESC Gonikoppa unit, has said that assistant engineer Krishnakumar has been asked to file a complaint with the police.</p>
