CESC lineman assaulted at Ponnampet

A lineman on duty was assaulted allegedly by an educational institution president at Ponnampet on Saturday.

The victim is Mahadevaswamy, who is a lineman at the Ponnampet unit of Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Company (CESC).

The accused is Kolera Zaru Ganapathi, president of the Ponnampet Sai Shankar Educational Institution.

Mahadevaswamy had asked the president to clear the pending electricity bill and had also warned the latter that the electricity connection would be disconnected failing the clearance.

Ganapathi, in turn, abused the lineman and allegedly assaulted him too, according to a complaint filed with the Ponnampet police.

The video clip of the assault has gone viral on social media.

Condemning the incident, the CESC Employees’ Association has demanded suitable legal action against the accused.

Ankayya, the assistant executive engineer for CESC Gonikoppa unit, has said that assistant engineer Krishnakumar has been asked to file a complaint with the police.
