Elected representatives and officials faced a few tense moments as Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda was served distilled water during his visit to Malemahadeshwara Hill on Saturday.
The chief minister offered prayers at the temple atop the hill and then went to the Salur mutt for breakfast. During breakfast, he was given a bottle of distilled water by mistake. By the time the mutt staff realised the slip-up, Gowda, his wife Datty, and MLC K R Mallikarjunaiah had consumed the water. The doctors who were immediately summoned checked the three and declared that there was no problem, as distilled water was more pure than mineral water.
CM criticises media
Sadananda Gowda criticised the media for its reports on his visit to Chamarajnagar district.
Speaking to reporters after offering prayers at the temple, he said: “I am doing a thorough review of the drought situation in the district. In spite of this, media has called my visit as an eyewash.”
