CM Siddaramaiah announces Karnataka's second international cricket stadium in Mysuru

M M Hills: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday announced the second international cricket stadium of Karnataka for Mysuru and listed out projects worth Rs 3,647.62 crore for the development of the Mysuru division, in the special Cabinet meeting at M M Hills of Chamarajanagar district.

Siddaramaiah, who chaired the historic 9th Cabinet meeting of 2025, at Malai Mahadeshwara Hills of Hanur taluk, in Chamarajanagar district, listed out projects, including the much-awaited international standard cricket stadium, said to be the second such stadium in Karnataka, at Huyilalu village near Yelwal, around 10 km from Mysuru city.

Announcing this, Siddaramaiah said, Mysuru will get a fully-equipped international-level cricket stadium, and the authorities have been told to identify the land for the same. The procedures should be completed and the land should be handed over to the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) at the earliest. It is said that around 26 acres of land has been identified at Huyilalu for the stadium.

Addressing a media conference after the special Cabinet meeting, Siddaramaiah said that the meeting was held successfully and projects worth Rs 3,647.62 crore - pertaining to PWD; irrigation; major, minor and medium irrigation; Energy department; Health; Rural development; lake filling projects; and tribal development - were given administrative approval in the meeting. The Chief Minister said that around 78 topics were discussed for the Mysuru division in the meeting.

The allocation includes Rs 1,787 crore for various minor, medium and major irrigation projects in Mysuru division; Rs 703 crore for development related to SC/STs; Rs 203 crore to tackle human-animal conflict, with railway barricade fencing in Chamarajanagar taluk; Rs 315 crore for drinking water; Rs 228 crore for healthcare, including a 250-bed district hospital at Kollegal town; Rs 300 crore for Tourism development; a new taluk bhavan and 50-bed hospital for Hanur; Rs 40 crore for the development of Badanavalu village; Rs 475 crore for filling around 110 lakes and others. The authorities have been directed to immediately take up the works, he said.

White topping

The CM said that white topping will be done in Mysuru city at a cost of Rs 391 crore on the lines of Bengaluru city.

The meeting has approved Rs 30 crore for establishing a museum at the old DC’s office, which has now been shifted to a new building in Siddhartha Nagar.

Allocation of Rs 101 crore for the land acquisition for the runway expansion of Mysuru Airport was one of the important decisions taken.
