Cold-hit villages: DC seeks report from officials

'List priority works like drinking water supply, solar lamps, power connectivity'

 Deputy Commissioner Richard Vincent D’Souza on Saturday directed officials to initiate measures on providing infrastructure at cold-hit villages in the district.

Presiding over a meeting to discuss on the recommendations of assurances committee of the Legislative Assembly that had visited villages like Janardanahalli, Mavinahalli, Honnekodi and Hippagalale, which are located in the vicinity of Harangi and Hemavathi dams and considered as cold-hit, the deputy commissioner wanted the officials to pull up their socks in this regard.

He also instructed the tahsildar, the executive officer of the taluk panchayat and the engineers attached to the Cauvery Neeravari Nigam Limited to visit the villages and submit a report on the works to be taken up on priority, like drinking water, installation of solar lamps and electricity connectivity.

Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Charulatha Somal also spoke on similar lines.
Tahsildar Krishna said he had received 60 applications from five villages under 94(C). Action will be taken after going through the applications, he told the deputy commissioner.

Assistant Commissioner Dr Nanjunde Gowda and transport officer D’Souza were present.
