The Congress has finally admitted to the fact there was indeed a brawl between its Ballari MLAs Anand Singh, J N Ganesh and Bheema Naik.
The party leaders, who are in damage control mode, however, continue to issue contradictory statements about Singh's hospitalisation following the midnight brawl between the legislators.
Wakf Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan, who visited Singh at the hospital, later told reporters that Singh not only conceded to the fact that the MLAs had come to blows with each other, but also that Singh was injured during the skirmish.
"The three MLAs got into an argument. Singh has sustained a small injury near the eye. Small differences between friends is common. Even I had got into an argument with Akhanda Srinivasmurthy (Pulakeshinagar MLA), who is a good friend. Other MLAs like Byrathi Basavaraj and Munirathna too were present. These are small issues, there is no need to blow this out of proportion," he said.
Khan also said that Singh was alright and that he will be discharged either tonight or tomorrow.
"Singh is completely fine. He has had biryani for lunch and is resting," he added.
When it was pointed out that he was contradicting Congress MP D K Suresh's claims that Singh had developed coronary problems, Khan said that the media was creating the "confusion".
