Dharmasthala case: ‘No Ananya did MBBS in KMC in 2003’

Amid the SIT probe into the alleged Dharmasthala burials, sources in Manipal Academy of Higher Education informed that records show that no student named Ananya Bhat had enrolled for the first year MBBS in Kasturba Medical College (KMC) in 2003.

“After extensive scrutiny, we found no student named Ananya had enrolled in KMC in 2003,” informed sources on condition of anonymity. 

Sujatha Bhat, in her complaint to Dakshina Kannada superintendent of police and Dharmasthala police station on July 15, had stated that her only daughter Ananya Bhat had gone missing while on a trip to Dharmasthala with other students in 2003.

Sujatha stated that Ananya was pursuing first-year MBBS in KMC in Manipal -- a constituent college of MAHE.

The Anti Naxal Force used to monitor Sujatha’s movements during her visits to Kalasa and Beltangady, said ANF sources. “As she was on the list of ‘urban naxals’, we monitored her movements for a couple of years till 2013,” they said. Activist Ramachandra Bhat from Kuthlur in Beltangady also claimed to have seen Sujatha among groups supporting Maoist ideology.
