<p><br />Addressing a press meet here on Monday, Deputy Commissioner V Ponnuraj said all the measures have been taken for the smooth conduct of the counting process. The counting will be held at Canara College premises and 106 tables have been arranged for the purpose. 106 supervisors and 106 counting assistants have been deployed for the purpose. <br /><br />He said one supervisor and one counting assistant will be deputed for each table. The postal ballots will be counted in the beginning on the table of the electoral officer at 8 am, he said.<br /><br />DC said candidates can appoint counting agents to 106 tables, 15 Assistant Election Officer’s tables and one electoral officer’s table. However, Ministers, MPs, MLAs, Zilla Panchayat/Taluk Panchayat Presidents/Vice-Presidents, MCC Mayors/Deputy Mayors, TMC /Taluk Panchayat Presidents/Vice-Presidents can not be appointed as counting agents. Counting agents for every Assembly constituency will be issued with colour coding pass. The use of mobiles by the counting agents inside the counting room is banned. If found, the mobiles will be confiscated. Returning officers, Assistant Returning Officers and Observers can use the mobile inside the counting rooms. <br /><br />Ponnuraj said the strong room will be opened at 7.30 am. Randomisation of the staff will be done at 5.30 am on May 16. After each round of counting, the election observer will randomly inspect two control units. The additional counting assistant will record the candidate-wise votes and inform the same to the observers. </p>.<p>Media cell<br /><br />DC said media cell will have a display system in which the compilations of the constituencies will be updated. The cell will have TV. The media persons must go in batches to the counting rooms and not individually. Live telecast from the counting premise is not allowed, he added. <br /><br />The results of the counting will be published on the Election Commission’s website after each round. </p>.<p>Section 144<br /><br />Superintendent of Police Dr A S Rao said prohibitory orders under Section 144 will be clamped in the district from May 15 to May 18 midnight as a precautionary measure to prevent any untoward incident. No processions are allowed during all the three days. Moreover, after the declaration of the result, political parties are prohibited from celebrating the victory by bursting crackers, taking out procession. Gathering of large group within 200 metres radius of the counting centre is banned. Moreover, none will be allowed to enter the counting centre without the pass. </p>.<p>Parking<br /><br />The movement of vehicles on jail road will be banned. The officials vehicles must be parked in front of the open space near jail and the vehicles of political parties, candidates and others must be parked in front of open space near T M A Pai hall. <br />HQA Prabhakar Sharma was present. </p>
