DKMUL dairy inauguration on Jan 29

The inauguration of 2.5-lakh litre capacity milk dairy of the Dakshina Kannada Co-operative Milk Producers Union Ltd (DKMUL) at Uppooru in Udupi will be held on January 29, said DKMUL President Raviraj Hegde K.

Speaking to reporters here, on Friday, he said that the dairy was built at a cost of Rs 87.25 crore. The dairy at Manipal was started in 1976. Initiatially, it had the capacity to process 20,000 litre milk. Depending on the demand, the capacity was increased in a phased manner. At present, the dairy has the capacity to process 80,000 litre milk.

"To cater to the needs of the market, there was a need for a 1.5-lakh litre processing dairy in Udupi. Accordingly, it was decided to construct 2.5 lakh litre capacity dairy at Uppooru."

He said that the DKMUL dairy will be inaugurated by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy.

Pejawar junior seer Vishwaparasanna Teertha Swami, Union Minister Sadananda Gowda, Revenue Minister H D Revanna, Co-operation Minister Bandeppa Kashempur, District In-charge Minister Jayamala and others will take part.
