Exam without invigilator!

At a time when educational institutions are wondering how to prevent malpractices in examinations, Crossland College, Brahmavar, has started a new initiative by allowing students to opt for an examination hall without invigilators.

Nineteen students opted for the opportunity given to the students.

They were personally called by the principal to brief about the idea behind this novel scheme and all of them promised to be sincere during the examinations.

More students are expected to take part in this process from the next examination onwards. Soumya Mardi, a final year BCom student said, “I feel proud to have made use of this opportunity. I am happy to be considered a sincere student by everyone.”

Prof K K Gurumurthy, associate professor in History, said that the general feeling of the students was that this exercise made them write the examination without any fear, made them more responsible and sincere. They felt happy that the principal and teachers trust them fully and that itself is the greatest motivation for them to face the world with confidence.

“Writing examination without invigilator is an amazing concept. When I came out of the examination hall, I felt that it is really a challenge for a student to prove her sincerity to herself,” Shanti, a final year
BCom student said.

“Being faithful gives me joy,” said Choiang Phom, another final year BA student.

“This was the first time I wrote an exam without an invigilator. This time I was able the concentrate fully. It was a good experience. The environment was also calm and quiet. There was enough time to think and concentrate while writing the answers. It helps one to be sincere in future,” said Yashwi Mariyam Das of final year BA.

Principal Prof Samuel K Samuel said, “We have been toying with this idea for some time and I feel extremely delighted that 19 students came forward immediately after the information was passed on to them. We are in pursuit of inculcating moral values in our students and this is another attempt towards it, as envisaged by the founder of the institution late Dr C T Abraham.”
