Farmlands won’t be acquired says, Mahesh

Last Updated 14 December 2018, 14:31 IST

Tourism Minister Sa Ra Mahesh said on Saturday there were rumours that lands of farmers would be acquired for the theme park, which was not true.

“Out of the 400 acres of government land in KRS, Brindavan Gardens is developed only on 76 acres. The remaining land remains undeveloped. Some of it has been encroached upon by unscrupulous elements. The theme park will help protect government land,” he said.

The team of ministers and MLAs led by Shivakumar inspected nine spots identified for the park. Shivakumar said boating would be introduced to the Venugopala Swami temple from the south end of the dam.

MLC K T Srikantegowda said, “The project will be implemented without hurting our heritage and culture. The project will make the family members of the erstwhile royal family proud,” he said. Ravindra Srikantaiah, Srirangapatna MLA, maintained a distance from the visiting team.
