The Federation was inaugurated by Rajanna, commissioner for the department of disabled welfare, who impressed on the need to educate the hearing impaired parents so that they understand the barriers faced by hearing impaired children. More than 200 parents along with their children went on a silent march from Central library to M G Road. Several hearing impaired federations formed at village, taluk and district level from across the state took part in the event.
