Actor Sumalatha, wife of late actor-politician Ambareesh, said she would announce her final decision on contesting the general elections from Mandya constituency on March 18.
Speaking to reporters after visiting Kaveri Ranganathaswamy temple at Kadaballiin the taluk and seeking people’s opinion, she said, “Minister D K Shivakumar spoke to me about elections. He did not ask me not to contest the polls, but suggested a contest from any other constituency. Anything might happen in the last moment. I will wait.”
“I am touring the constituency to seek the opinion of Ambareesh’s fans and voters. Wherever I go, people are insisting that I contest. I should respect their feelings. If I contest, actor Darshan will campaign for me. All artistes in the film industry will support me,” she said.
Meanwhile, an online registration campaign ‘Ambi Amara’ has been launched, on behalf of Sumalatha. Volunteers can enrol along with their mobile number and voter id number.
