First edition of women’s Kannada literary meet

Zilla Kannada Sahitya Parishat president B S Lokesh Sagar said that the first ever women’s Kannada literary convention will be held at the premises of Sri Ramalingeshwara Temple in Kanive, Somwarpet, on February 3.

Addressing reporters here on Tuesday, he said that Hebbale Gram Panchayat president Latha will hoist the National flag at 8.30 am. Koodige Gram Panchayat president Premaleela with hoist the Kannada flag.

The Zilla Panchayat CEO will flag off the cultural procession wherein the convention chair Vijaya Vishnu Bhat will be led to the convention venue, amidst cultural troupes. Members of women self-help groups and students will take part.

Zilla Panchayat president B A Harish will flag-off the folklore festival at 10 am.

The formal programme will be inaugurated by Akkamahadevi Study chairperson Leeladevi R Prasad at 10.30 am. Arameri Kalancheri Mutt seer Srishantha Mallikarjuna Swami will grace the occasion.

A light music programme ‘Bhava Sangama’ will be held from 1.30 pm to 2.30 pm.

Kodlipet Kirikodli Mutt seer Sadashivananda Swami and Kannada University, Hampi vice chancellor Mallika Ghanti will take part in the valedictory programme to be held at 4.30 pm, he added.

Zilla Kannada Sahitya Parishat honorary secretary K S Ramesh and Subhash Nanaiah were present in the press meet.
