Four dead, 1 injured in car accident near Hubballi

Hubballi: Four women from a family died and a man was severely injured after their car hit a road-divider on National Highway 48 near Noolvi Cross in Hubballi Rural taluk on Sunday evening.

The victims hailed from Kalidas Nagar near Vidyanagar in the City. According to Hubballi Rural police, the deceased have been identified as Sujata Hiremath (60), Gayatri Mahantmath (67), Shakuntala Hiremath (72), and Sampatkumari Kalmath (63).

Three women died on the spot while another succumbed to her injuries in Karnataka Medical College and Research Institute (KMC-RI) in Hubballi.

The driver of the vehicle Veerabasayya Hiremath (65) suffered severe injuries and has been admitted to KMC-RI.

They were returning home after attending a function in Haveri. The driver lost control on the wheels and hit the road-divider on the national highway.
