Gynecologist suspended on charges of dereliction of duty in Bidar

Bidar: The commissioner of Health and Family Welfare department has issued orders suspending Dr Irshana, the obstetrician and gynecologist at the Government Mother and Child Hospital, Basava Kalyana, on charges of dereliction of duty.

The doctor in question has been transferred to community health centre at Kudalasangama in Hungund taluk of Bagalkot district. The doctor has been told not to leave the headquarters without the permission of the competent authority, stated the order issued by Health department Commissioner Shivakumar K B.

A pregnant woman had died due to excessive bleeding after delivering a baby at the Basava Kalyana hospital. The doctor was found guilty of negligence in the said case following an inquiry. Hence the doctor was suspended, the order said.
