H-K region to get 4 skill training centres: Deshpande

The state government, in association with a private company, will set up four Centres of Excellence for training in the Hyderabad-Karnataka region, said Revenue and Skill Development Minister R V Deshpande.

He was addressing a gathering, after inaugurating the Centre of Excellence training programme here on Thursday.

The minister said that the Cabinet had approved the proposal to set up four centres in Hyderabad-Karnataka region in association with Dassault Systems India.

The government and Siemens have developed four centres in Mysuru, Dandeli, Kalaburagi and Bengaluru. While the centre in Dandeli will be inaugurated this month, Kalaburagi and Bengaluru centres will be inaugurated in January and February, respectively, he said.

The minister said, the total cost of the project is
Rs 2,031.80 lakh, of which, Siemens Industry Software, contributed Rs 1,822.48 lakh and the government’s share is Rs 219.32 lakh.

Deshpande said, the government aims to train 30,000 youth in the next five years in these centres. Similarly, the skill development department aims to train 2.5 lakh youths and 50,000 youths have already completed the training.
