Hacked to death with swords: Youth murdered in Mangaluru

Mangaluru: A youth was brutally attacked with swords and hacked to death by two miscreants on Tuesday while unloading sand from a pickup vehicle in Irakodi near Kuriyala in Bantwal taluk in Mangaluru.

The youth was identified as Imtiyaz from Kolattamajalu.

The miscreants, who came on a motorbike, attacked him with swords when he was unloading sand. The driver Rahiman, who was assisting Imtiyaz, also suffered injuries after being attacked by the miscreants.

Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police Yatish N who rushed to the spot confirmed that two miscreants who had arrived on a motorcycle had hacked Imtiyaz to death.

DK district in-charge minister Dinesh Gundu Rao condemned the murder. He directed DG and IGP over phone to take necessary measures to maintain law and order in the region.

The minister also directed the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police to step-up security in communally sensitive locations.
