Monthly donation for development of Banjara community, aid to at least 10 students from the community, who are from economically backward families, and health checkup camps at thandas (hamlets).
This was the call given by National Seva Doctors Association (NSDA), Karnataka Chapter president Dr Vasudev Naik to fellow community members, during the valedictory of two-day conference on Sunday.
Naik said doctors from the community alone number around 600, serving in different places. The community members, irrespective of profession should join hands to contribute to uplift the community in the fields of social, education, economy and politics.
Naik said it was also proposed to start a trust from the NSDA, besides planning for overall development of thandas and providing best education to the children in such thandas. Monthly health checkup camps are also planned and stipulated amount will be collected as donation every month from the members of the association, he added.
Naik also advised those community members, who are well-off, to identify and help at least 10 students each, for their higher education. It should be a continuous exercise, as it will be of great help to the needy, he added.
A matrimonial meet was also organised during the ceremony. Colonel (Retd.,) Dr Thariya Singh, Dr Sheshagiri Naik, Dr Sujatha Rathod, Dr Thakur Naik, Dr Geetha Shivamurthy among other achievers were felicitated.
