The district administration has set a deadline of August 2 for illegal homestays to register themselves.

Homestays which fail to do so will have to face strict action, said Deputy Commissioner P I Shrividya.

The owners should register the homestays by submitting an online application to the Tourism Department.

The photograph of the owner, Aadhaar card, indoor and outdoor photos of the homestay, scanned copies of the registration document, no objection certificate issued by the local gram panchayat and other related documents need to be uploaded on the website http://karnatakatourism.org for registration. The registration fee is Rs 500.

The team of officials will conduct an inspection after the registration process. The copy of the acknowledgement produced by the website upon submitting the application should be produced at the time of the inspection.
