The Hosamata bridge situated on Uppinangady-Kadaba Road was inundated following heavy rain in Western Ghats region.

The increase in water-level in Gundya stream inundated the bridge and disrupted the movement of vehicles on the bridge.

About three feet flowed on the bridge at 6 am, which increased to 6 feet by noon. By evening, there was 7 feet of water flowing on the bridge.

The overflowing water on the bridge disrupted the movement of vehicles, inconveniencing students, office-goers and daily wage labourers.

It may be recalled that the bridge was inundated for 10 days following the rain last month.

As the new bridge constructed beside the old bridge is incomplete, vehicles have to use the Hosamata old bridge.

The low lying areas in Ilanthila, Mata, Nattibailu, Kurpelu, Nekkiladi has been inundated.

The disaster management team is camping in the region. Following heavy rain in Subrahmanya, the Kumaradhara river was in spate. The snanaghatta at Kukke Subrahmanya was inundated. The movement of vehicles on Subrahmanya-Panja-Kaniyoor was disrupted for a few hours following this.
