Leader of the Opposition in Legislative Assembly and the BJP candidate for the Dharwad Central Assembly Jagadish Shettar, filed his nomination papers on Monday.
He was taken in a procession in an open vehicle, by thousands of party workers and supporters, to the electoral officer where he filed his nomination.
His wife Shilpa Shettar, MP Prahalad Joshi, BJP district president Nagesh Kalaburgi, Mahanagara Palike Deputy Mayor Maneka Hurali and others were with him.
Before the filing the nomination, Shettar offered special pooja to the Anjaneya Swamy temple in Dharwad.
