Karnataka government to roll out new textile policy, says Shivanand Patil

In a major move to revitalise textile sector in Karnataka, the state government will soon unveil a new Textile Policy 2025–30 aimed at attracting substantial investments and generating nearly two lakh employment opportunities, announced Minister for Textiles, Sugarcane Development, Sugar, and Agricultural Marketing Shivanand Patil on Friday.

The announcement followed a high-level consultative meeting at Vidhana Soudha, where the minister met with MLAs, MLCs, and key stakeholders from the textile industry to gather inputs and recommendations for shaping the new policy.

He responded “positively” to the demands of the stakeholders to include non-leather footwear and shoe industries, which fall under the small industries category, in the new textile policy framework. “All suggestions received today will be given due weightage,” Patil said. “Steps conducive to the development of the textile sector are already being taken,” he added.

Highlighting the state’s proactive steps toward industrial development, Minister Patil revealed that a textile research centre will be established in Belagavi, which will serve as a hub for innovation and development in the sector.
