Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy will participate in the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Thursday.
Kumaraswamy had taken Modi head on in a bitterly-fought Lok Sabha election in the state.
However, Modi stormed to power for a second term even as the BJP won 25 out of 28 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka, in what was a near-annihilation of the Congress-JD(S) coalition.
The result came as a huge setback for Kumaraswamy, what with his son Nikhil losing to BJP-backed independent candidate Sumalatha in Mandya.
Kumaraswamy is also expected to reach out to Congress president Rahul Gandhi during his visit to New Delhi and urge him not to resign.
“I will request Rahul Gandhi to continue. I’ll be meeting him,” Kumaraswamy told reporters.
