<p>Mangaluru: An elderly woman and three children were killed in separate landslides that occurred in Ullal taluk in the wee hours of Friday. </p><p>65 year-old Prema Kanthappa Poojary, her two grand children Aryan (3) and Arush (2) were killed when the landslide swept over their house at Pambada Hitthilukodi near Montepadavu in Ullal taluk. 10 year-old Fathima Nayeema was killed when the retaining wall crashed behind her house at Kanakare near Deralakatte in Ullal taluk.</p><p>In another rain-related incident, a 27-year-old lineman died of electrocution while attempting to repair a high-tension (HT) line in this coastal district on Thursday amid heavy rain, police said.</p><p>At around 3.30 am, a huge portion of a 30 feet hillock caved in on the house at Pambada Hitthilukodi. His mother Ashwini who sustained injuries is being treated in the hospital, sources said. </p><p>The operation launched by SDRF, NDRF, fire personnel and police to rescue Ashwini and Arush was hampered by torrential rains and lack of motorable road. The entire house was destroyed in the landslide, police sources told <em>DH</em>. </p><p>Naushad's daughter Fathima Nayeema was killed on the spot when the retaining wall crashed on the rear portion of their house.</p><p>Naushad, a fish monger, who used to step out of the house around 4 am had remained at home as it was a holiday on Friday. When the landslide forced the retaining wall to crash on the house, neighbours pulled out Naushad, his wife Misriya and a two-year-old baby. But Nayeema was found dead on the spot.</p><p>Nayeema's sister, who was staying in a relative's house, survived the landslide. Nayeema was studying in third standard in Al Madina english medium school. Nayeema's funeral was conducted at Renjady mosque. Ullal taluk Tahsildar Puttaraju among others visited the landslide affected areas.</p>
