The Special Lokayukta Court on Thursday issued summons to Dasarahalli MLA S Muniraju and others in a case pertaining to alleged fabrication of documents to acquire land.

The Lokayukta police on July 13 had submitted a charge sheet against the BJP MLA and tahsildar Ranganath and revenue inspector Suresh, who are charged with aiding him to obtain land documents.

All the three have been directed to appear before the court on July 27.

Police had taken up investigations after a private complaint was filed by Puttaswamy, a resident of Kereguddadahalli, stating that Muniraju had tried to acquire one acre and 15 guntas of land belonging to Puttaswamy’s mother Mallamma.

According to the charge sheet, Muniraju had purchased 30 guntas from Keshavmurthy in 1995 and sold the land in 1996. After becoming an MLA, he tried to reacquire 21 guntas of the same piece of land as the khata was still in his name.

Apart from the 21 guntas, Muniraju had acquired another 14 guntas of encroached land, formed 38 sites and sold them to different people.

However, none of them had obtained khatas for their land. Taking advantage of this, Muniraju tried to obtain a mutation record on the land as the khata was still in his name.

Ranganath and Suresh are said to have aided him in procuring the false mutation record.

Private plaint dismissed

The Lokayukta court on Thursday dismissed a private complaint filed by a retired policeman alleging that several police officials in the wireless section of the Police Department were involved in corrupt practices.

Judge N K Sudhindra Rao also imposed a cost of Rs 5,000 on the complainant after he found that no documents were available to substantiate the claims made in the complaint.

Complainant J D Karode had alleged that DGP Govindaiah V, superintendent of police Chandraprakash, assistant sub-inspectors B S Krishnappa and Kalleshachari had inflated the bills and were responsible for out-of-turn promotions disregarding the seniority list.
