Man booked in Dakshina Kannada for raping, impregnating minor

Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada police have booked a man on charges of sexually assaulting a minor girl and impregnating her.

In a complaint, the victim, who is a college student, said that during her college holidays in August 2024, an auto driver known to her visited her house on the pretext of asking for water. He then forcibly raped her.

Later, he threatened her not to disclose the matter to anyone and left.

Following this, the accused continued to intimidate and sexually assault the girl multiple times, reportedly on seven to eight occasions, with the last incident occurring in October 2024.

In recent months, the victim experienced health issues, and on Saturday, she visited the Puttur Government Hospital with her mother for treatment, where it was revealed that she was pregnant. Following this, a case has been registered at Dakshina Kannada Women’s Police Station under Section 64(2)(m) and 352(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023 and Sections 5(l) and 6 of the POCSO Act, 2012.
