Newly elected BJP MP from Belagavi, Mangala Suresh Angadi took oath as Member of Lok Sabha on Monday. She took her oath in Kannada in the name of the 12th-century social reformer, Basavanna.
She won elections held in May this year. Mangala is the widow of former Minister of State for Railways Suresh Angadi, who died of Covid-19 last year.
