<p>Mangaluru will soon have Doppler Weather Radar system which would accurately predict the weather.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Doppler radars will provide accurate information about thunderstorms, cyclone, storms, hailstorms, rainfall and wind pattern. With a radius of 250 nautical miles, they may help in issuing cyclonic predictions.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The Doppler weather radar system has already been installed at Mumbai and Kochi, said Meteorology Officer at Mangaluru International Airport (MIA), Ronald J Vaz.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Speaking to a section of media persons on the sidelines of a workshop on fisheries warning, he said that the Doppler weather radar is capable of predicting with increased accuracy weather events. A site has been identified for the installation of the Doppler weather radar system, he added.</p>.<p class="bodytext">In addition, the Meteorological Observatory Unit at Panambur would be shifted to Shakthinagar. The work is in progress, he said.</p>
